ELS EXTENSION PROGRAMMES
ELS is a “dynamic” programme in that it is constantly revised as new research reveals greater understanding of how our brains receive, process and “output” information. ELS expands with the educational needs of our children and ELS is proud to have recently added extension programmes that will further support barriers to learning.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
ELS, with its developmental, sequential approach, has proved to secure the foundation skills for learning at higher levels. ELS early childhood centres is an initiative to provide a safe, secure, exploratory and child centred environment where pre-school children are given individual guidance to develop not only the skills required for academic learning (visual and auditory perception, literacy, language and learning) but also the development of social and self-help skills. ELS early childhood centres are inclusive centres, enrolling neurotypically developing children.
AFRIKAANS
ELS is available in Afrikaans and can be used both as a literacy and language programme to support learners struggling with Afrikaans as a second language within early childhood and foundation phase. ELS as a whole programme including visual perception, auditory perception, numeracy, literacy and language, is also available to children where Afrikaans is their first language.
VISUALLY IMPAIRED LEARNERS
This initiative was driven and successfully piloted by a team of teachers / ELS therapists at Kloof Cottage in Port Elizabeth. The ELS materials have been adapted and are used to support early development and foundation levels of literacy, language and numeracy.
